Singularity Drift
The Penitent Hour drifts alone in the dark, and the Kepler Relay is humming in a frequency only Kira Volkov can hear. She should be dead, hours of life support gone, nav charts burned, comms dead, and yet the relay's pulse is keeping her alive, threading sound through her veins like a second nervous system. Every transmission is a gift and a theft: a memory of a home she never had, a name she doesn't recognize, the soft certainty of being someone who never existed. Renz Calderon, the voice in her dead comms, insists the relay is rewriting her. The Iterant, whatever it is, insists she is finally becoming herself. As the chorus spreads to the Kepler Relay Chorus and beyond, Kira learns that other pilots have been sung into new shapes before her, including a version of herself the relay remembers under a name she does not yet know. With Iman Otieno hunting the relay's signal from outside and Thessaly Vorn waiting inside its lattice, Kira must choose: silence the song and lose the woman the relay is building, or surrender her last true name and pilot the Penitent Hour into a future where humanity is only the first movement.
