The Saint of Salt and Smoke
When Vivienne Ashworth returns to the storm-lashed cliffs of Sorrow Bay for her grandmother's funeral, she carries a sealed envelope and a grief she has never been allowed to name. The salt-bleached town she fled ten years ago has not forgotten her, and neither has Dorian Vellum, the brooding lord of the lighthouse who once shattered her heart with a single, unspoken night. His sister Margot greets her with desperate warnings about the Whispering Woman, a drowned saint who has begun rising from the waves to claim a bride, and whose cold voice sounds unsettlingly like Vivienne's own. The town elders tighten their grip on old rituals, the lighthouse keeper's daughter watches from the cliffs, and a great-grandmother's spectral voice threads through Vivienne's dreams, urging her toward a choice she does not yet understand. To save the man she still loves, Vivienne must walk into the surf, surrender the name the sea has always remembered, and decide whether the saint who rises will be her salvation, or the thing she must become to end the curse forever.
