An anonymous caller drives journalist Maren Holloway into the rain to a dead textile mill, where she finds a body in a drainage pipe and a conspiracy that stretches back eleven years. Her brother Aaron Holloway, once tangled in the case, went silent long ago , until now. As Maren digs, she crosses paths with Roe Carrigan, whose sister Clara vanished the same night; defense attorney Livia Crane, guarding secrets for the Langford family; and Dr. Imani Voss, whose findings could unravel everything. Captain Upton warns her to back down. Whit Evenwood watches from the Langford estate. An unknown caller keeps slipping her tips, but the source's voice is never the same twice.
