Meridian-9 is a graveyard with a sky, and Cassius Venn is one of its only remaining scavengers. Flying a battered rust-eater hull called the Thessaly, he strips pre-War colony transports for parts that the Bureau's pale-eyed brokers will pay to bury. When a dig uncovers a sealed facility untouched since the Collapse, something even the Archivist records refused to name, Cassius and his engineer Sable trigger a chain of events no one on the frontier can afford.
