The Hollow Beneath Harrowfield
When Eleanor Vance inherits a crumbling family estate she never knew existed, she arrives expecting paperwork and dust. Instead, she finds a village that speaks her name in warning, a housekeeper who serves meals she did not request, and a pit in the earth that hums in a voice like her own. Guided by the cryptic journals of her great-aunt Mathilda Vance , written in increasingly frantic hand across decades , Eleanor begins to unravel the estate's terrible bargain. Each room reveals another presence: the Faceless Child in the hallway, a Dead Twin who should not be standing, the illusion of a mother who never bore her, and a priest, Father Aelred, whose sermons describe her before she was born. With the help of Dr. Simon Hale and the wary Mr. Pemberton, Eleanor pieces together the lineage of the Hollow , and her place at the end of it. But the house is patient, the replicas are many, and the Sleeping Eleanors already line the walls. To break the cycle, she must choose which version of herself survives , and accept that the last Vance may not be the one she expected.
