The Hollow Court of Brassmoor

Lyra Vance has walked three days through rain-slicked roads to reach Brassmoor, a city where stories are currency and unfinished drafts are locked away like forbidden relics. She seeks entry into the Cartographer's Guild and apprenticeship under the vanished Archivist Quill, but the brass doors of the Vault of Unfinished Maps hold more than she bargained for. Etched with rivers that flow toward no sea, the Vault remembers every abandoned tale, and something within it has begun to wake. When the Guild's enforcers, the Erasers and their hounds, mark Lyra for redaction, she is forced to flee into the Hollow Court with a disgraced Sketcher named Wren, the forge-touched Matthias Vorel, and the sharp-edged Calla Nightjar. Her only ally inside the Depository is the Keeper of First Drafts, who guards the oldest, most dangerous manuscript of all: the unfinished story of Brassmoor itself. As the Court begins to collapse and rival Compilers close in, Lyra must decide whether to finish a story that was never meant to be told, or let the Hollow Court swallow every name, including her own.
