Where the Cobblestone Ends
June Ashbury arrives at a wind-scoured village on the edge of a crumbling cobblestone road, carrying nothing but a rented cart with a broken wheel and a cartographer's ledger she never wanted. The book belonged to her late uncle, and its pages are filled with impossible entries: streets that don't exist, landmarks that vanish, and a single destination marked only as the place "where the cobblestone ends." The villagers aren't welcoming. Old Tam, a weathered cartwright who speaks in proverbs and warnings, insists the ledger has been waiting for June specifically. Madame Cresswell, the keeper of the village's archive, offers cryptic assistance but urges her to abandon the search before she learns too much. Felix Broom, a charming stranger with elegant manners, seems to appear wherever June turns, his help arriving just a beat too conveniently. As October deepens and the cobblestones continue to erode, June teams up with Pippin, a streetwise child who knows the village's secrets, and Mira Thistle, a reclusive scholar who recognizes the ledger's origins. Together they begin to decode the map, only to discover that the road it's charting is disappearing in real time. With the final entry pointing somewhere that shouldn't exist, June must choose whether to chase the ledger to its end, and risk losing the only home she's ever known, or leave the road to fade, taking her uncle's legacy with it.
